Terms of Service

By creating an account, downloading the application, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Polylingo is a language learning application that provides:

• AI-generated stories tailored to your language proficiency level (CEFR A1–C2)
• Tap-to-translate functionality for instant word and phrase translations
• Text-to-speech audio for stories and uploaded content
• A phrase book for saving and reviewing vocabulary
• The ability to upload and read your own ebooks and text content
• Cross-platform syncing of progress, settings, and saved vocabulary
• Offline dictionary access for supported languages

Features may vary by platform, subscription tier, and availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

To use certain features, you may need to create an account. You may sign in anonymously or with an email address. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used in violation of these Terms. Anonymous accounts that are inactive for an extended period may be deleted.

Polylingo offers both free and premium subscription tiers. Premium features require a paid subscription.

Billing: Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment terms are governed by the respective store's terms.
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods.
Price Changes: We may change subscription prices. You will be notified in advance, and price changes will apply to the next billing cycle after notice.
Free Trial: If offered, free trials convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.

You may upload ebooks, articles, and other text content ("User Content") to the Service for personal reading and learning purposes.

Ownership: You retain all ownership rights to your User Content. Polylingo does not claim any ownership over content you upload.
License: By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display that content solely to provide the Service to you (e.g., rendering text, generating audio, enabling translations).
Responsibility: You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to upload and use any content. You must not upload content that infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights.
Removal: You may delete your uploaded content at any time from within the app.

Polylingo uses artificial intelligence to generate stories and educational content.

Educational Purpose: AI-generated content is provided solely for language learning and educational purposes.
No Guarantee of Accuracy: While we strive for quality and accuracy, AI-generated content may contain grammatical errors, factual inaccuracies, or culturally inappropriate material. It should be used as a supplementary learning tool.
Ownership: AI-generated stories created through the Service are provided for your personal use. You may not commercially redistribute AI-generated content obtained through the Service.
Content Moderation: We implement safety filters to prevent the generation of harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content. If you encounter such content, please report it to support@polylingo.io.

The Service, including its design, code, features, logos, and curated content library, is owned by Polylingo and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:
• Copy, modify, or distribute the Service or any part thereof
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Use the Service to build a competing product or service
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels

The Polylingo name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, and slogans are trademarks of Polylingo. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Upload content that is illegal, infringing, obscene, or harmful
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Use the Service to transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Circumvent or manipulate subscription restrictions or free tier limits
• Share your account credentials with others or allow multiple users to access a single account
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:
• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or appropriate
• Translation and dictionary results will be error-free
• The Service will meet your specific learning goals or requirements
• Defects in the Service will be corrected in a timely manner

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, POLYLINGO AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the app settings or by contacting us at support@polylingo.io. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination by us, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, either party may pursue resolution through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, unless you are located in a jurisdiction where arbitration agreements are not enforceable.

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms within the app or on our website with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
